5 ways to beat hunger
Don't let it get to you. Hunger has a funny way of taking over our thoughts, and making us eat food we don't really need. Let's get some practical tips down to help us avoid unnecessary over indulgence.
1 - Drink plenty of water.
Often when we're thirsty, our tummy plays tricks on us. Before digging out some snacks, have a big glass of water and you should notice that those feelings of hunger subside.
2 - Eat good sources of protein and fibre
These nutrients are great for helping us feel fuller for longer. Make sure to include plenty in each meal and you'll find that you can last till your next meal.
3 - Grab a high maintenance snack
Sometimes we're just a bit bored and feel like eating. To combat this and make sure you're not consuming too many calories, try some tricky snacks. Cut a pomegranate in half and pick at the seeds. The same goes for pumpkin seeds if you buy them in their outer shells. By the time you've managed to get them out and eat them, you'll probably be feeling much more content and won't have eaten much at all.
4 - Drink tea
Herbal teas are great to help you feel full. After dinner is a popular time to feel like you need to eat more. Instead, boil the kettle and sip on a cuppa. Our favourite is digestion-aiding mint tea.
5 - Get a hobby
The powers of distraction can be your best friend. Start a craft project, do some knitting, or a crossword. Your brain will be too busy thinking about said activity that the hunger feelings will start to disappear.
