Not Seeing Results at the Gym?
Our friends at Neat Nutrition have provided us with some reasons as to why our workouts might not be as successful as you hope...
Keeping motivated to go to the gym is hard. Not seeing the expected results is even harder. We all know how tempting it is to cancel that bank breaking gym membership so our friends at Neat Nutrition have given us tips on how to get the most out of your workout regime.
Do you put in the hours in at the gym week in, week out, only to be left feeling frustrated when you don't see the progress you were hoping for? It can be completely demoralising to feel like all your hard work has been wasted, especially when you have no idea why. If this sounds like you, check out the reasons below that could explain how you're sabotaging your workouts....
Not Refuelling Properly
It might sound cheesy, but you get out what you put in! You can't expect to see results if you aren't fuelling your workouts properly and replenishing your muscles afterwards with something high in protein and carbohydrates. Need some inspiration? We love adding a chicken breast to our lunchtime salad or having a couple of boiled or poached eggs with breakfast – both containing lean protein.
Not Getting Enough Sleep
We all know how a good night sleep can do us the world of good, and yet so many of us still aren’t getting enough. When we're asleep our muscles get the chance to repair after exercise, facilitating growth. If that wasn't reason enough to head to bed before midnight, getting to bed too late will also have a huge effect on your energy levels and mood. This means your workouts are likely to suffer and you're more likely to reach for a sugary snack when your body is craving energy.
Not Prioritising Good Nutrition
There is a reason that athletes eat the way they do - good nutrition has a huge impact on your sporting performance. You can't out-train a bad diet and so it's time to get honest about what you're really eating.... especially if your goal is fat-loss.
Doing the Same Workouts
You can't expect your body or abilities to change if your workout is always the same! Doing the same workout routine week in, week out is likely to be the reason for your plateau. So, it's time to switch things up! Try out a new class or find a personal trainer who can give you a new programme that will keep your body guessing.
