5 Reasons to Stay Hydrated in Your Healthy Eating Routine
Drinking water has huge health benefits. At Jane Plan we can outline many more tips to successful weight loss through a healthy diet plan delivered to your door.
Water is essential so that our blood can carry nutrients around the body, get rid of waste and to avoid dehydration.
If we run low or become dehydrated our mental performance and physical coordination start to become impaired. Dehydration can also trigger hunger-like feelings and fatigue, leading to an increased risk of weight gain.
HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH?
It's a tough question isn’t it? The European Food Safety Authority recommends that women should drink about 1.6 litres of fluid and men should drink about 2.0 litres of fluid every day. In terms of 200ml glasses, that works out at about 8 each for a woman, and 10 glasses for a man.
WATER AND WEIGHT LOSS
The good news is that drinking enough water can boost your metabolism. Our kidneys filter toxins but when we become dehydrated, they can’t function efficiently. The consequence of this is that the liver takes some of the load so weight gain is a higher risk. If you drink enough water, both organs work properly and your body will function better.
Water is also a natural appetite suppressant. Drinking a glass when you feel hungry can make you feel full for longer and ease hunger pangs.
